A lot of the causes of the Earth’s oceans, lakes, and rivers becoming ravaged are created by humans. Our industrialization and modernization comes with many benefits that have been proven to save lives. However, along with every good thing comes some bad. In this case, our technological advances and innovating have taken a toll on the health of our planet. Our reusing of plastic to prevent it from becoming litter or piles in landfills also causes carbon emissions which infect our oceans and marine life through ocean acidification. Urbanization along coastlines to better house our future scientists and engineers causes runoff with harmful chemicals that contaminates the waters and therefore the creatures living along in it. These are just a few examples of how what we are doing as humans is good for the right now, but in the long run we might be doing more harm than good.
